There is a huge variety of walking and climbing available within the Cairngorms National Park, much of it being easily accessable from Ardlogie Guest House and Aviemore.
The Cairngorms provide some of Scotland’s most challenging walking, with a large number of Munros and 5 of Britain’s mountains over 4,000 ft (Ben MacDui, Braeriach, Cairn Toul, Sgur an Lochain Uaine/Angels Peak and Cairngorm). These mountains come into their own in winter, providing experienced climbers with a wide range of classic ice climbs. Winter climbing is a growing sport and the Cairngorms offer ideal conditions for all abilities. There are a few businesses in the area offering courses and on-to-one training. Check out www.g2outdoor.co.uk for more information.
At a much lower level there are many miles of footpaths through the area, including some lovely walks through the forests and around the lochs. There are also ranger-led guided walks available at Cairngorm Mountain and Rothiemurchus.
We are also conveniently located for the Speyside Way long distance walk, which currently finishes (or starts) in Aviemore, together with the new East Highland Way which connects Fort William with Aviemore and as a result connects the existing West Highland Way, Great Glen Way and Speyside Way long distnace walks.
Check out the links below for more information
We can offer packed lunches (please ask about cost as it depends on how much you want) and free refills of tea or coffee for flasks.
The Rothiemurchus visitor centre can provide visitor guides and maps of the walks/cycle paths.
Another good area for walking is around Glenmore Forest and Loch Morlich.
