A bit about Aviemore…..
Aviemore in the Cairngorms National Park is surrounded by stunning scenery and is a major highland holiday resort, as well as being an all year round destination with a wide range winter and summer activities to choose from. As one of the country’s top ski resort and the most popular summer holiday area in the Highlands, Aviemore is ‘alive’ all year round. As a result of this, and despite its small size, Aviemore has a number of facilities which one might not expect from a town of its size: a wide range of accommodation, supermarkets, countless shops selling outdoor activity equipment, local gifts, homewares and premium clothing brands, banks, a swimming pool, cinema and numerous restaurants, pubs and cafes.
A short distance is the summit of Cairngorm Mountain (4082 feet). Mountain biking is also a popular sport in the area due to the hundreds of kilometres of off-road and forest tracks in the area. Spring is an important time for birdwatchers who are drawn to the numerous RSPB reserves and areas where some very rare birds can be spotted. Walkers love the area too: from low level strolls around the scenic lochs to more strenuous adventures into the wilderness of the Cairngorm Montain range.
Aviemore is an excellent base for exploring the Cairgorms National Park and the wider are of Badenoch and Strathspey or you can stay local and enjoy the lochs and forests and hills of Glenmore , Rothiemurchus, Alvie Estates, Inch Marshes.
